Our Family History Cookbook: From Slavery to Present 

The Project culminated in a genealogy and author talk at Oakwood Cemetery Chapel on July 23, 2022. While the book is published privately for family members, several recipes were shared at the event.

“Our Family Cookbook: From Slavery to Present” contains hundreds of recipes from, and dedicated to, Monroe’s ancestors. The text is a compendium of all information Monroe has found in her research. Exploring her roots 10 generations back, Monroe has traced her ancestry through the dark history of American Chattel slavery, to the shores of Africa and Europe.
